Mad at Google

I know it's not nice to call people names that are not their own.  In fact, my students get reprimanded for doing such a thing.  But . . . Google is not a person.  And Google is STUPID.

First they drop sharing/commenting on Google Reader.
Then, they drop Google Calendar sync.
Now . . . Google Reader is getting the ax.

Soooooo, I'm trying Bloglovin' now to keep up with all of my favorite blogs.  If you use GR, then you'll need to make the big switch yourself.  Don't forget to import/find/follow our blog!

My friend Kim has bestowed upon us the fine honor of the "Lemonade" award. Kim and I met while I was busy planning our wedding. We've only seen one another a couple of times since then, but she always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes. A New Award

Jen thinks our blog is SUPER! Wow! Jen and I met in cyberspace - neither of us can remember where - and we've been getting to know one another through our blogs, Facebook, and email. From suddenly losing her husband to losing their baby, Jen's had a . . . well, let's say "sucky" year. However, she has faced her grief with faith, honesty, and strength. I'm proud to call her my friend, and look forward to her becoming an IRL friend when I force get her to visit Dallas someday!



I will now bestow this fine award to a few other blogs that I think are SUPER!

1. Katie - I've gotten to know Katie over a year now, and I enjoy reading her blog about the life of the "Happy Hours" - their life with a cat and a puppy, trying to get pregnant, neat things Katie can knit, and life in general. She is thoughtful, kindhearted, patient, open, and overall super! And hi Patty! :)

2. Megan - Megan loves: to hang out on the boat, spend time with her super son (who has the same bday as me), her DH, drinking cold beer, basketball, and anything N.C. Megan does not love: work, her MIL, and hangovers. Oh, and Megan loves me. Right, Meg?

3. Laurie - Laurie is our cousin, and she's the best Frat House Mom out there. She's a wonderful friend, prayer warrior, party bud, and story teller. Luckily for her, those boys of hers give her lots of stories to tell. We can't wait see her family in just a couple of weeks!

4. Joyce - Love Joyce. Super cute twin baby boys. Great sense of humor. What else do you really need to know? Oh yeah - her DH is quite the handyman.

5. Shanny - What you see is what you get with Shanny, and I love that. I can't stand superficial people, so I enjoy reading whatever Shanny is up to on a given day. Her family has a rich culture and I find it fascinating.

I've started another blog just for the photographs I'm taking for Project 365. It will be a simple blog with no frills or sparkles. I'll be changing the look of the blog as soon as the Cutest Blog on the Block fixes their website, so it won't be completely ugly.

Merry Christmas

Todd and I wanted to wish you all of the blessings that Christmas provides us. Our Lord brought to us His son, so that He may provide us all the miraculous gift of eternal life. While we know the holidays can often be difficult for many of us, know that His promise is always with you.

If you are celebrating Chanukah, we wish you blessings as you join with family each night to celebrate. Whatever your belief system, we hope that you are able to take this time of year to spend with loved ones, to relax and reflect, and plan for the renewal of a new year.

I started this blog as a way to entertain myself and find a way to journal a little of what life brings us. I doubt you find as much entertainment in it as I do, but I appreciate you reading our blog and getting a little view into our lives. Merry Christmas!

Jenn and I met online and have become fast friends. She is such a sweet person and is absolutely beautiful (inside and out). We sure do enjoy one another's randomness! A funny note . . . Jenn's mom is only four years older than me. :) Her mom and I are VERY young for our age!

The Challenges of Blogging

Coming to you from our backyard . . . it's our blog!


The weather is GORGEOUS today!!! Rather than sit inside and blog, I decided to take our blog outdoors. However, I am learning that there are some additional challenges to this extreme style of blogging. Here they are in no particular order:

Blogoversary

Happy 1st Blogoversary to Todd and Kristin's Blog!!!
I started this blog one year ago today. I didn't know what it would become - if anything - but it has evolved into the most elaborate diary I've ever kept in my short (ahem) time here on Earth. I was in hopes that Todd would publish at least one post because he is a wonderful writer, but blogging is not his thing. Maybe that should be a goal for our second year of this her blog. My first post started it all. I have enjoyed blogging, and hope that all of you out there are enjoying reading it all.

A Few Little Stats:

- Visitors from almost every state of the US

If you don't use Google Reader, you should!


#1 - Google Reader is a great way to keep up with all of your blog reading. There's no way I could click on every blog link I have now.

#2 - You can keep all of your blogs organized in whatever fashion you like. I have categories for cooking, personal, hobbies, shopping, etc.

# 3 - If you use GR, set it up with others you know so you can share blogs you like. I've learned about new blogs, funny stuff, recipes, and shopping deals through some of my peeps that are my GR friends.

#4 - Subscribe to new blogs using the Google search tool in Reader. Type in a subject and see what is suggested. You can always unsubscribe to blogs if you like.

#5 - Google Reader works for all blogs/feeds!



And no, I don't get paid for this PSA. I just like GR that much.

For Your Ears Only

Some of you will be happy to know that I disabled the auto play on my music for this blog. However, I've added some new tunes and you can scroll to the bottom of the page to listen!

Wordle to Your Mother

Kelsey turned me on to a cool website that will collect the most popular/frequent words on your blog or any other site that has a feed. You can then customize it however you like. My Wordle is at the bottom of my blog. (See it?!) Unfortunately, Wordle doesn't have the capability to update as needed, so I'll have to do that myself. Pretty cool stuff though!

Like the New Header?

I made it on Scrapblog! My friend Martha, who also scrapbooks, told me about the site and I decided to try it out. They have a lot of neat features, but honestly, the website is a total pita. I could have done paper pages must faster without as much difficulty. I wasn't able to publish the page I made into a header, so I had to capture it from the page to use it. There are also several other glitches I faced, but at least we have a nice, new header.

Think I'll still with regular paper scrapbooks for now though. :)
