Weekend Wrap-Up

I'm borrowing/stealing this survey format from my friend, Virginia. Thanks for the blog fodder, VA!

Worst part of the weekend: Hands down - losing Mary, my grandmother.

Best part of the weekend: There really wasn't one.

Most random part of the weekend: I had a MASSIVE allergic reaction to something I ate (pizza) and became very ill including hives from head to toe. Crazy stuff.

People I saw this weekend: Mom, Rick, brother Michael, SIL Danielle, niece Aeva, nephew Will, Aunt Rita & Uncle Charlie, friends Kirk & Lori

Something I wished I did this weekend that I didn't get around to doing: Calling Mary on Friday while driving home from work.

Things that I am looking forward to this week: Friday! It's going to be a long week between work and home.

Things that I am not looking forward to this week: missing Mary, trying to help my mother as she grieves, two evenings of tutoring, tutoring Friday until 6pm, grades due for report cards

We lost my Mary this morning. She passed away peacefully at home at 5:20am.

My grandmother was the most amazing, courageous, and strong woman I have ever met. This world will be a much different place without her. I know my world will be.

Friday Fill-Ins for March 20. 2009

1. Why do we have to experience the ultimate grief of losing loved ones?

2. Repeated behaviors are now habits.

3. I have a need for more Spring Break!

4. I had never heard the phrase "I can't" and it reminds me that my Uncle Charlie told me "can't never could do nothing anyway."

5. I still drive the way I always do.

6. How was I to know that the IRS would try to screw me over this year.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Whitney's championship game, tomorrow my plans include hanging out with old high school friends, and Sunday, I want to sleep in, do nothing, and pretend I don't have to go back to school on Monday.

"Sweet Dreams!"

Most nights before Todd and I go to sleep, I tell him , "Sweet dreams!" He rarely, if ever, remembers his dreams so I'm not sure why I even say it. I, on the other hand, have very strange and vividly detailed dreams that I typically remember. Two nights in the past week I have dreamt of Todd breaking up with me. Of course, I have alerted my husband that, even though I've had these dreams, my warranty has expired and I cannot be returned!

In the first dream, we appeared to be dating. He told me in so many words that we weren't together anymore and drove away. I woke up a little upset that he tried to do that in my dream. Surprisingly, that's all I remember from that dream.

Two nights ago, I dreamt that Todd told me if I didn't answer his questions we would be over by Christmas. I remember having a list of answers and began by saying to him, "Number one . . ." However, every single time I tried to answer his questions, he interrupted me! I was so upset that I called my mom to see if she still owned my old house for when I had to move. The next thing I knew I was with my sisters in a amazingly fancy and large hotel. I found a bag that belonged to me and one of my sisters was outside on the patio watching television. The dream spun into many other things after that as my dreams usually do.

Last night as we turned out the lights to go to sleep, I kissed Todd, told him I loved him, and said, "Sweet dreams!" He then responded to me, "No dreams!"

Ten Things I Hate

I know hate is a serious word, but these are some serious things!

1. Dish towels and sponges that don't absorb water
2. Green peas
3. People who are cruel
4. Whiskey
5. Socks that spin around on my feet
6. Acne
7. That I can't pause live TV now that we have Uverse
8. Having knots in my back
9. Cancer
10. Potholes

Friday Fill-Ins

My friend and fellow-blogger, Amanda, does the FFI so I decided to give it a shot.

1. When I look to the left, I see Stevie's junk, hanging upside down lip, big canine tooth, and big-barreled chest as he sleeps on his back.

2. The den is the room that has the best view in my home.

3. Let it work instead of breaking it.

4. No quality job is done dirt cheap!

5. Self-control is a responsibility that all qualified citizens must share.

6. If you have any money feel free to send it to me.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to doing nothing, tomorrow my plans include doing not much and Sunday, I want to scrapbook and sleep! (I love me some Spring Break!!!)

Two Years Ago Today . . .

I married the most amazing, perfectly-made man for me. We have been through more in the past two years than many couples must endure -- family health problems, losing three pregnancies, surgeries, work-related stress, and more -- but what's important is that we have endured.

I love this man more than I thought I could. God truly made him for me. He has a strength, heart, patience, kindness, and moral compass that many of us could only strive to possess. I am proud to call him my husband.

I love you, Todd, and I am honored and proud to be your wife. May God bless us with many years to come.

Early Spring

Winter must be over. There are Mosquito Eaters everywhere. Outside. In the front yard. In the backyard. In the HOUSE! I hate them! Plus, they really don't even eat mosquitoes! They were tolerable until I found out they are of no use to anyone but themselves.

Get away from me, nasty bugs!!

Busy & a Funny

I know that I've been neglecting our blog lately. I have been battling bronchitis & a sinus infection for over 2 weeks now, so between that and school and home and life . . . we have been busy.

My birthday was yesterday and my class asked me if I had any plans. I told them that DH and I are going to Hawaii, but not to worry because we'd be back in the morning (today). They got all excited and I heard questions like, "Are you going in a PLANE?" and "Are you going to DRIVE?" I told them that we will be driving because Mr. H has an aquacar - kinda like a Batmobile - that will take us across the water. One of my students said, "Mrs. H, it's like a ten hour flight to Hawaii." I replied, "I guess we'll have to hurry then!"

I've already been asked twice about HI this morning. I told the kids that, yes, it was beautiful but, no, I don't have pictures yet. We will be continuing to work on Geography each week.

We have one more week until Spring Break. I hope to update this blog and our photo blog then.
