My New Girlfriend

Using hoarder stockpiled a few gift certificates, I sprung on buying my new first Coach bag.  I pick her up today!

It's funny because I have NEVER been one to spend money on purses.  However, since I need a new bag, in between clothing sizes and don't wear anything but flip-flops when it's warm out, I went for the bag.

Puppy Love

The weather here has been awesome lately!  We've enjoyed getting outside some to work in the yard and play with the dogs.  Here are a few recent pics of Steve & Pippin:

Spring Has Sprung!

My first plantings!  I bought the plant stands at an estate sale a few blocks away, painted them, then added new pots with new flowers.  Now if I can just remember to water them . . .

Next up is our front landscaping.  Can't wait to show you how great it's beginning to look!

Sew It Was My Birthday

Another anniversary of my 29th birthday came and went earlier this month.  It started off with flowers.

Then my favorite birthday dinner - crab legs!  I only get these once a year because I take SO LONG to eat them.  Todd gets tired during this special meal since I crack, pick and eat every morsel of every leg for at least an hour.  I know he also likes it because it's the most quiet I ever am during dinner!

Then the next day my present arrived!!!  No surprise since it's the only thing I asked for, but I was excited!

I fought with the bobbin and threading that first night, and the next night I produced my first project.  Todd said he's glad I picked the "ugly fabric" for practice.  When he was resting his head on that pillow, he wasn't calling the fabric ugly!  :)  We'll see how long it takes the dogs to murder it.  There are more where it came from though.

My actual birthday was my first day back at work after having my gall bladder removed on February 22, so I was pretty tired.  All in all, it was a nice day and I'm glad it's over.  Getting older sucks after you start getting old!

Trash Truck Killing Machine

He might be big, but he is sensitive.  Steve LOVES Tuesday mornings because it's trash day in our neighborhood.  He waits and waits until he hears the big trash truck nearby.  Then, like a flash, he flies through the dog door ready to kill.  Out into the yard, barking and having a fit, Steve jumps upon the fence (scratching the crap out of it) over and over again..  He's almost able to reach the top of the fence, his tiny, svelte 125-pound body flying against the wood slats.  He has broken a wooden post in the past which has been replaced with steel posts.

Well, yesterday was different.  I woke up ready to get the amazing sight of trash truck day on film.  However, we waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . and Steve was sad.  Here is your proof:

Heartbreaking, huh?  Don't worry, though.  The trash truck showed up many hours late yesterday and Steve's faith in killing from afar was restored.

Another New Hobby

I took a beginner's sewing class and made this little bag:

Not bad for someone who hasn't independently used a sewing machine for almost 30 years!  My adventure will be new throw pillow covers.  Don't worry.  I bought extremely inexpensive fabric since the dogs will eventually destroy my handiwork.  :/

Still Here

Long time, no blog.  Todd and I have been so busy since the holiday season began.  We hosted Thanksgiving at our house - a sort of an open house style Thanksgiving - and had about twenty (20) people in and out through the day.  Then my great Aunt Rita passed away.  Then it was time for Christmas.  Between Christmas at my Dad's, starting our own, new Christmas Eve tradition, Christmas at my Mom's and trying to relax before New Year's Eve . . . it was 2012!

Starting January 2, we went back to school for what is always a crazy, stressful second semester.  Todd started his last semester of graduate school, I had a hysterectomy, the dogs destroyed all but one of our last living throw pillows, I hosted a gold & silver party (friends & I made great $$$), we saw my Dad & Marilynn perform in a local play, and best of all . . . my brother was FINALLY discharged from the hospital just three (3) days shy of six months there.

And WOW ---- it's February.  Todd is already in the throes of grad school, I'm taking a long time healing, the dogs are awesome as always, and we are patiently waiting to hear from our agency that a birthmother would like to meet us and allow us to adopt  her baby.
